One of students’ favorite on-campus weekends, Harvest Weekend, has just passed us by, signaling the end of October. The weekend kicked off with family friendly hayrides on Friday night and s’mores, cotton candy, and donuts around Marshall Fire Pit. For those on the more creative side, there was the opportunity to carve pumpkins to be put on display outside Marshall Basement. Anna Koenen ‘26 said, “I enjoyed being introduced to the American Halloween traditions like pumpkin carving.” Then, for those who love a scare, SAB put together a Haunted Hayride and a Haunted Trail. Zoë Mir ‘27 said, “The Haunted Hayride was my favorite activity. It was super funny.”
In addition to this, students could enjoy grilled hot dogs and a scary movie in the Outdoor Amphitheater. On Saturday, the same activities were offered in the evening, but during the day, students had the opportunity to make homemade applesauce and press fresh apple cider with Solebury Orchard apples. Also, there were vans available to go see spooky Halloween decorations in Lambertville.
The night ended with Meeting for Worship in the dorms. Sunday was the Admissions Open House where students came from all over to see many of the great things George School has to offer. Current students held panels and gave tours to some of their future classmates. The final activity of this weekend full of fall fun was making autumn floral crowns on Red Square on Sunday afternoon. This weekend was definitely one to remember, and according to Zoë Mir ‘27, “Harvest Weekend was definitely the most fun weekend on campus so far.”
