Senior week is here, and seniors across campus are starting to realize that the end of the road is in sight. While the celebrations leading up to commencement are the highlights of their final week at GS, it’s often a time for 12th graders to reflect on their time here and their most memorable moments as George School students. With this, we ask seniors, what is your fondest memory at GS?
“My name is Andrew Botchway and my favorite George School memory would just be bonding with all my brothers in my dorm, we have a really close and tight knit family now.”
“My name is Sam Mottershead and my favorite George School memory would be breaking the school record for the swimming relay”
“My name is Evan Heffelfinger and my favorite George School memory is beating Archbishop Wood in the Diane Mosco Foundation basketball game.”
“My name is Owen Yerkes and my favorite George School memory would be one of the first frisbee club meetings down on South Lawn.”
“My name is Varun and one of my favorite memories was sophomore year in study hall when we all snuck in Chick-Fil-A.”
“My name is Dash Atwood and my favorite George School memories are probably like sneaking into my friends dorm room after lights out, like playing music and video games and stuff until like light at the end of freshman year. That’s kind of when I made a lot of the friends I had through my four years.”
“My name is Harry Bohra and my favorite George School memory was my final lacrosse game, senior year. I scored a goal and afterwards we all had like a little meeting with Keith, the whole team and all the seniors, and it was just really meaningful to me.”
“My name is Faye Joseph and my favorite George School memory was the Pit Dance because it was really fun and it was the first time I felt like a part of the George School community”
“My name is Charlotte Gougher and my favorite George School memory was probably the frisbee club meetings from last year, because it was an opportunity for everyone to hang out together outside, especially with like COVID and everything, and I met a lot of my friends there.”
“My name is Zach and my favorite George School experience is my time playing devel soccer with my friends since I had freshman year.”
“My name is Genesis and my favorite George School memory is the first time I scored a goal in my varsity field hockey game. It was like a really rainy game and it was not very nice out and I don’t know, somehow I made it in and once it went in, I was kind of confused how that happened. Then I looked back and everyone was cheering and I was so excited, it was so much fun.”
“My name is Anjali and my favorite George School memory is Student Council Weekend freshman year at the carnival when I raced people on the obstacle course.”
“My name is Hyatt Sparks-Woodford and my favorite George School memory is Senior Meeting for Worship freshman year because I had no idea what it was about, and I got to see all the seniors sitting in a circle crying together and just reminiscing on their time at GS together. It was so sweet and wholesome and to me just defines my George School experience.”
“My name is Tarini Patel and my favorite George School memory is definitely going to be one winter cheer game that I had. It was in February, at that point students were not allowed to be in the gym. We were cheering at the basketball game going on, and one of my biggest memories from that is the adrenaline rush, everyone was outside and cheering. It was a very big George School community moment, no one could be inside, but it was nice that everyone was showing their support, even though not allowed to be there. They were all watching from the windows outside, so I really liked that and cheering there because there was so much energy, so that was definitely one of my favorite memories here.”
“My name is Lotta Isola and I don’t really have a specific favorite George School memory, but I think the best times I have had at this school are hanging out in the dorm with my best friends, just laughing, having some good food, and watching Netflix. Just like the idea of dorm life, having fun with each other, whenever, what time of day, it doesn’t matter, I just love the whole atmosphere.”
“My name is Olivia and my favorite George School memory was playing on the JV softball team my freshman year. We had such a fun team dynamic and everyone was so supportive, it was just one of the best times I have had here at George School.”
“I’m Emily, my fav memory at GS was playing on the JV basketball team freshman year with all my friends, we did really well that season and it was a nice bonding moment as a new freshman at the school.”
“My name is Denys, and one memory I will definitely remember, probably for the rest of my life, is the first time I spoke at Meeting for Worship. That was during my senior year, actually, my third year at George School, and it was when the war in Ukraine started, and it just was an outcry of emotions and it was just…a really memorable event that I think I will remember for the rest of my life”
“My name is Silas, and one of my fondest George School memories is actually freshman year, I was invited to cross country preseason, so I was able to come to George School like two weeks before all the other freshmen, and I was able to make a bunch of really cool friends, become a part of the team, and it really made the start of my George School experience really special.”
